Donald Trump raised $100 million through small-dollar donations to his campaign in October, the Republican presidential nominee announced on Wednesday.
Campaign officials said the $100 million sum came from more than 1.6 million contributors who donated $200 or less, marking a 151 percent increase in small-dollar contributions since September.
“Hitting a 100 million dollar goal in October is an amazing milestone for the campaign as it shows how Mr. Trump’s message is resonating with millions of voters across the country,” Trump’s digital director, Brad Parscale, said in a statement.
The campaign has saw “significant growth” in its online fundraising since national and state-level polls between Trump and Hillary Clinton began tightening last week, Parscale said.
Despite the influx in small-dollar donations to his campaign, Trump’s fundraising operation continues to lag behind that of his Democratic opponent. In the first 19 days of October, Clinton out-raised the GOP nominee by $23 million ($53 million to $30 million).
