Two Baltimore City police officers were indicted Wednesday by a grand jury in two separate cases on charges of bribery and theft the city?s State?s Attorney?s office said.

Che Christopher Jackson, 35, of Randallstown, is charged with felony theft stemming from a January incident in which the rims and tires were taken off a woman?s car after police seized it as part of a shooting investigation, according to the state?s attorney?s office.

Walter Jackson-Hill, 36, of York, Pa., is charged with bribery, extortionand misconduct in office. Jackson-Hill is charged with taking money from a suspect, Lamar Hayes, who faced criminal charges, in exchange for helping Hayes get a “favorable” outcome in court, according to the state?s attorney?s office.

In Jackson?s case, Lisa Smith?s 2000 Cadillac DeVille was in storage at the Northeastern district when $1,800 in tires and four 20-inch rims were taken off it, according to the state?s attorney?s office.

The same tires and rims were allegedly found later on Jackson?s 1999 Cadillac DeVille, the state?s attorney?s office said.

In the other case, Jackson-Hill is charged with agreeing in September 2005 not to appear at the suspect?s court appearance so that charges against Hayes would be dropped, in exchange for $400 from Hayes? girlfriend, according to charging documents.

Jackson-Hill was listed on medical leave and didn?t attend Hayes? December 2005 court appearance, according to charging documents.

Jackson-Hill also allegedly took $750 from Hayes last month in exchange for another promise to help him out in his case, according to the state?s attorney?s office.

Both officers are suspended without pay, a police department spokesman said.
