Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek said in an interview that he does not fear death and that he would continue his job as a game show host as long as his “skills do not diminish.”
The 79-year-old host told CTV News over the weekend that he has developed sores in his mouth from chemotherapy and that he trips up on words occasionally.
“There are weaknesses I feel in my body, but I can always suck it up when it comes to tape the show,” he said.
Trebek said some of the “observant members” of the audience might be able to notice his occasional lapses, but “they’re forgiving.”
Trebek told viewers in March that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. The host was “back at work” for the 36th season of the hit quiz show by August.

While he says he is “hanging in” with the chemotherapy, he also acknowledged that he will not live forever and he is OK with that.
“I’m not afraid of dying,” he said. “I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid of that?”
