A Germantown man was sentenced to 14 months behind bars in connection with a fatal hit-and-run of a 23-year-old pedestrian on the Key Bridge.

Anthony L. Randolph, 41, pleaded guilty in November to charges of negligent homicide, operating while impaired, and leaving the scene of a collision that caused personal injury.

According to prosecutors, on the night of Feb. 27, 2011, Eliester Pineda-Medrano was riding on his moped from Georgetown to his Arlington home when the scooter stalled. As Pineda-Medrano tried to push-start it, he was struck by a sport-utility vehicle driven by Randolph.

Pineda-Medrano went flying into the windshield, causing the SUV’s air bag to deploy. Randolph — who had been drinking at a bar — stopped momentarily, then sped off.

Twenty minutes later, a Maryland State Police trooper drove up on a silver Mercury SUV traveling with only three tires on Interstate 270 south of Montrose Road, authorities said.
