Pence: Clinton’s Obamacare gaffe a ‘great contribution’ to Trump

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said Thursday that former President Bill Clinton’s critical statements about Obamacare has immensely benefited Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

“Sometimes with the Clintons even the truth happens,” Pence told Fox News on Thursday. “Bill Clinton said what millions of Americans have known for years, and that is that we need to repeal Obamacare lock, stock, and barrel.”

“I think it represents an extraordinary moment of candor, but it’s a great contribution to Donald Trump’s message that we’ve got to repeal Obamacare, and we’ll do that,” he added.

Clinton labeled President Obama’s signature healthcare program a “crazy system” where small business owners are “getting killed.” The former president walked back the remark later, but the damage had already been done.

Following his performance on Tuesday’s vice presidential debate stage, Pence has returned to the campaign trail and will stump in Pennsylvania on Thursday. The next presidential debate featuring Trump and Hillary Clinton is set for Sunday night in St. Louis, Mo.
