Woodson HS receives suspicious letter

The administrative offices of Woodson High School were evacuated on Thursday afternoon when it received a suspicious envelope similar to those containing white powder that arrived in 39 D.C. schools last week.

No classrooms were affected at Woodson’s Fletcher-Johnson Educational Center, and no injuries were reported.

D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer said the envelope is “similar to those that were received last week by some D.C. schools,” so much so that the envelope was “immediately recognized by school staff.”

D.C. police, D.C. Public Schools security staff, and the FBI also are responding to the scene, Piringer said.
