If it wasn’t already clear that one of President Obama’s priorities for 2013 is passing stringent gun control legislation, it should be now.
That’s because Thursday night the campaigner-in-chief’s Twitter account (which, it should be noted, is run by staffers at his ‘non-profit’ Organizing for Action) retweeted a post by Yoko Ono, the widow of Beatles frontman John Lennon, which featured a picture of the bloody sunglasses the musician was wearing when he was assassinated in New York City 22 years ago.
Ono, a musician and political activist involved with the anti-fracking movement in the Empire State, originally posted the following tweet Wednesday night. As of Friday afternoon, the tweet had been retweeted nearly 15,000 times and favorited by more than 3,100 people.

Obama’s bizarre retweet occurred just as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced that he would be introducing a baseline gun control bill that he hopes the chamber will vote on next month. Earlier this week it was announced that the new bill, which will included expanded background checks, will not include the assault weapons ban championed by California Sen. Dianne Feinstein to make the bill more appealing to Republicans.
As if any confirmation was needed that the two were related, the next tweet posted by the OFA staffers was a direct quote from Reid about his new legislation:

Vice President Joe Biden, who has been tasked with pushing forward the administration’s gun control agenda, announced Wednesday that the Obama administration still hasn’t given up on the assault weapons ban, however, arguing that it’s “the will of the people.”
