Former President Donald Trump attacked former President George W. Bush’s 9/11 remarks in which he “lectured” the country about far-right terrorism and later criticized the war in Afghanistan.
“So interesting to watch former President Bush, who is responsible for getting us into the quicksand of the Middle East (and then not winning!), as he lectures us that terrorists on the ‘right’ are a bigger problem than those from foreign countries that hate America, and that are pouring into our Country right now,” Trump said in an emailed statement on Sept. 13.
GEORGE W BUSH’S DREADFUL 9/11 SPEECH
Trump was responding to Bush’s speech in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at the United Flight 93 memorial in which he alluded to the country’s current political divisions.
“We have seen growing evidence that the dangers to our country can come not only across borders but from violence that gathers within,” Bush said. “There’s little cultural overlap between violent extremists abroad and violent extremists at home. But in their disdain for pluralism, in their disregard of human life, in their determination to defile national symbols, they are children of the same foul spirit, and it is our continuing duty to confront them.”
“The World Trade Center came down during his watch,” Trump said. “Bush led a failed and uninspiring presidency. He shouldn’t be lecturing anybody!”
In a second statement Monday, Trump blasted the “pathetic and incompetent withdrawal from Afghanistan,” which hit similar notes to his statement about Bush.
“This loss emboldens not only foreign terrorists, but also Antifa and BLM,” he said. “It’s sad that this is not what you hear from the Fake News Media who are only interested in talking about ‘terrorism’ from the right and protecting an illegitimate president.”

In both statements, Trump lamented the loss of life in the war in Afghanistan and the “trillions” of dollars spent on the 20-year war.
“Just nine months ago, the United States was viewed as being strong, and now we are being viewed as weak and stupid.”
