BEAUMONT, Calif. (AP) — Authorities in Southern California have seized a woman’s pet monkeys after one bit a customer at a pizza parlor.
The Riverside Press-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1v8VOjF ) says Wendelin Ringel turned over the capuchin monkey on Tuesday for a six-month quarantine to ensure it doesn’t have rabies. Two other monkeys were impounded until Ringel shows she has permits for them.
Authorities say Ringel took the monkeys to a pizzeria in Cherry Valley on Sunday.
Tricia Moreno told the Press-Enterprise that she and her three children were there. Moreno says she went outside to make a phone call and encountered Ringel holding the monkeys.
Moreno says one monkey escaped and ran under a parked car. When she caught and returned it, Moreno says it bit her arm.
She needed stiches and will get rabies shots.
