The White House is standing by President Obama’s four-year-old dog, Sunny, after the Portuguese Water Dog bit a visitor Monday.
The 18-year-old female visitor required stitches on her right cheek.
When asked about the incident Friday, White House press secretary Josh Earnest would not confirm or deny the situation but instead offered praise of the presidential pets. “They have represented themselves and the country quite well in their status as first dogs,” Earnest said.
Earnest told reporters that thousands of White House visitor have had the opportunity to play with Bo and Sunny and the pair have done well in acting as “ambassadors to the American people.”
