It might be Election Day in the United States, but according to Twitter, a lot of individuals are more concerned about a more musical kind of voting.
In advance of the 2014 MTV European Music Awards, fans around the world are invited to vote for their choice for EMA “Artist on the Rise” using social media using a specific hashtag for each performer or group.

Currently, the hashtag #VoteFifthHarmony is trending on Twitter due to the plethora of fans campaigning to get the girl group Fifth Harmony the top prize. The group shot to fame on the talent show “X Factor” and has since gained popularity for labeling Michelle Obama a “boss.”
Individuals have until Sunday to cast their votes using the hashtags on Twitter, Instagram or Vine. Aside from Fifth Harmony, also in the running are Nick Jonas, 5 Seconds of Summer, Jake Miller and Lucy Hale.
Apparently, Fifth Harmony is emerging as the favorite on social media. Though #ElectionDay is also trending, there doesn’t appear to be one candidate sticking out as a favorite on social media.
Perhaps as the day goes on, we’ll see some #VoteMitchMcConnell and #VoteScottBrown tweets. But, as of now, it appears everybody is voting for Fifth Harmony.
