Dallas Police Chief David Brown said that before he was killed by a detonated bomb, the suspect in Thursday night’s attack on police officers opened up to a hostage negotiator.
“The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter,” Brown said. “He said he was upset about the recent police shootings. The suspect said he was upset at white people.”
According to Brown, the suspect said he wanted to “kill white people, especially white officers.”
The suspect also said that police officers would “eventually find the IEDs.”
Brown made it clear that the suspect said he was not affiliated with any groups and that he was acting alone.

The cornered suspect was killed when police used a robot to detonate the bomb next to him. Three other suspects are in custody, but police did not disclose at this time their connection to the attack.
The Thursday night shooting left five Dallas law enforcement officers dead and six more injured. Two civilians were also wounded in the attack.
