‘The View’ asks Mike Huckabee: How do you let your daughter defend Trump?

The View” host Joy Behar pressed former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee Wednesday on how he lets his daughter, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, defend President Trump.

“The things that he says about women are horrendous,” Behar said on the ABC show, referring to the president. “Having said that, how can you let your daughter defend him?”

Huckabee, who appeared on the show with Sanders, argued that Trump has also empowered women, and asked the hosts to look at his record.

“He’s given my daughter an incredible opportunity,” Huckabee said. “Look at the women that he’s hired not only in the White House, but also the women that he’s hired in the private sector.”

He didn’t go so far as to say Trump was perfect, but said he believed the president had “integrity.”

“If I didn’t have some confidence in his integrity, I would never encourage my daughter to work for him,” Huckabee continued.

Sanders is the third woman and first mother to hold the position of White House press secretary, and she also defended working for the Trump administration.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with the president,” Sanders said. “I’ve never felt anything but respected and empowered to do exactly what I’m there to do every day and that is my job.”
