Colorado school shooters stole guns from parents

The two suspects in a deadly school shooting in Colorado stole the guns they used in the attack from one of the shooter’s parents and the armed guard at the school played a key role in containing the violence according to a new report.

Citing high-ranking police sources, a local television station in Denver reported the suspects “smashed into the locked gun cabinet at the home of the adult suspect’s parents Tuesday morning, stole the weapons and used them in the shooting later that day.”

Investigators believe the weapons that were stolen and used in the attack were purchased by the parents legally, the station reported.

The report did not specify which of the attackers’ parents the guns belong to.

One student was killed and seven others were injured during the rampage at STEM School Highlands Ranch, in Highlands Ranch, Colo., on Tuesday.

Two people, 18-year-old Devon Erickson and 16-year-old Maya McKinney have been charged with murder and attempted murder in the case.

McKinney reportedly identifies as a male and on Wednesday asked the court to use the pronoun “he” when referring to him.

A review of his social media postings before the attack shows a deep-seated hatred of President Trump and “all these Christians who hate gays.”

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock told the station that an armed guard at the school was “instrumental” in saving lives.
