Actor Robert De Niro joined liberal documentary filmmaker Michael Moore to bash President Trump in an hour-long podcast.
De Niro, 76, went off on President Trump in the latest episode of Moore’s podcast, Rumble with Michael Moore. During the hour-long interview, De Niro called Trump a “pig” and a “disgrace to the human race.”
This wasn’t a new line of attack for De Niro, who has harshly criticized Trump since he announced his 2016 campaign. Moore asked De Niro about his past remarks about wanting to punch Trump in the face.
De Niro claimed that he didn’t want to “literally punch him in the face,” but he wanted to make the president feel the same way that others have felt when Trump went after them. Moore countered De Niro and expressed his desire to punch the president.
“It would feel kind of good to punch him. Not hurt him. Just punch him in the face,” said Moore. “Just cathartic.”
De Niro responded, “I’d like to see a bag of shit right in his face. Hit him right in the face like that, and let the picture go all over the world. And that would be the most humiliating thing.”
He added, “He needs to be humiliated. He needs to be confronted, and he needs to be humiliated by whoever his political opponent is.”
De Niro explained that he would like to see the 2020 Democratic candidate tear Trump down, even if it’s not in an “obviously physical way.”
“The people have to see that. For him to be humiliated,” De Niro said.
Moore and De Niro spent the majority of the hour-long conversation theorizing about the president, including Moore’s conspiracy that the intelligence community has given Trump fake nuclear codes because they do not trust him.
Beyond Trump, the two criticized Trump’s supporters, including Sen. Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, and Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy.
“For the Republicans who have fallen in line with him … I don’t understand that,” De Niro said. “It’s a disgrace. It’s beyond a disgrace. Shame on them. Shame on all of them.”
