Where are they now?: Mark Teixeira, Baseball

While local fans have known about Teixeira?s abilities since his days as an infielder at Mt. St. Joe?s, the rest of the baseball world now knows about the switch-hitting slugger?s talents.

Teixeira was a member of the United States team in the World Baseball Classic. While his numbers weren?t great in the tournament, going 0-15 with four strikeouts, he has gotten off to a strong start for the Rangers, smacking two home runs and carrying a .328 average through 15 games.

Teixeira?s offensive numbers have been on a steady rise since his debut in 2003. In just three seasons, the Georgia Tech alum has belted 107 home runs, and carries a career average of .282.

Teixeira hit .301 with 43 home runs and 144 RBI last season, and in Ripken-esque fashion, played in all 162 of the Rangers? contests.
