The View host Joy Behar thinks Sen. Amy Klobuchar needs to show more of the toughness and rudeness she reportedly exhibits privately to her staff.
“There are six women running for president right now. A lot of them are very nice. A lot of them are very tough,” host Ana Navarro said Friday on the show. “They’re showing us that you’ve just got to be yourself and go out and do it. Stop thinking about it, go do it.”
“They could be more,” Behar cut in. “We talked about Amy Klobuchar … and how she says things to her staff that’s rude. She’s hardly rude on the stump. I see her at those debates — let them have it! Show us the real Amy Klobuchar. I want to see that.”
Navarro, 47, brought up an incident in which Klobuchar reportedly ate salad with a comb before making an aide clean it. The Minnesota Democrat’s presidential campaign launch was received with a smattering of accusations that she had mistreated her staff.
The 59-year-old senator dismissed any concerns at the time by saying she was a “tough” boss who pushes people.
“But my point is, is that I have high expectations for myself, I have high expectations for the people that work for me, and I have high expectations for this country,” she said. Her campaign has also denied that all the stories were true.
Since her announcement in February, Klobuchar has struggled to poll higher than the low single digits and currently has 1.5% support, according to RealClearPolitics.
