Here’s my Associated Press top 25 ballot.

  1. Kentucky (21-1)
  2. Syracuse (22-1)

3.  Ohio State (19-3)

4. Duke (16-3)

5. UNC (18-3)

6. Missouri (19-2)

7. Kansas (17-4)

8. Baylor (19-2)

9. Murray State (21-0)

    10. Michigan State (17-4)

    11. UNLV (20-3)

    12. Georgetown (16-4)

    13. Marquette (18-4)

    14. Florida (17-4)

    15. Creighton (20-2)

    16. Virginia (17-3)

    17. St. Mary’s (21-2)

    18. Florida State (14-6)

    19. San Diego State (17-3)

    20. Mississippi State (17-5)

    21. Michigan (16-6)

    22. Wisconsin (17-5)

    23. Indiana (17-5)

    24. Louisville (17-5)

    25. Vanderbilt (16-5)

And here’s my District, Maryland, Virginia top eight for the CSN poll.

    1.  Georgetown (16-4)

Next two Wednesdays are big for Hoyas – slumping U-Conn at home and at Syracuse.

    2.  Virginia (17-3)

If you’re tempted to rank Virginia ahead of Georgetown, remember this: Hoyas have wins over four ranked teams. Virginia has one and plays in a weaker conference.

    3.  George Mason (18-5)

Big game Saturday against Old Dominion. Since Mason beat the Monarchs in Norfolk, ODU has won seven of eight. Monarchs often struggle at Patriot Center, however, losing six of last seven here, with five of the losses coming by at least 16 points.

    4.  VCU (18-5)

One of several streaking teams in the CAA at top of conference standings. Drexel has won nine straight, VCU seven, Mason six, and ODU three. Drexel has the easiest schedule coming in, playing only ODU out of this group. VCU has a brutal finish – at ODU, at George Mason, an ESPN Bracketbuster matchup, at UNCW, and hosting GMU.

    5.  Maryland (13-7)

No better place for Turgeon to get his first Maryland road win than at Miami on Wednesday. Gary Williams was 0-5 on the road against the Hurricanes.

    6.  Loyola (16-5)

Three more wins for Patsos will match his most in eight seasons with the Greyhounds.

    7. Virginia Tech (12-9)

Was Greenberg’s upset of Duke last February his last hurrah? Blue Devils return to Cassel on Thursday night on ESPN. Guessing that Dickie V. won’t put the Hokies in the tournament this time if there’s an upset.

    8.  Norfolk State (16-6)

Among DMV teams, Norfolk (97) still ranks higher in the RPI than VCU (98), Maryland (105), Mason (108), Richmond (113), ODU (118), and American (157).
