When a giant gets hungry, he heads downtown.
That was former Washington Bullets player Gheorghe Muresan in the Cosi at 15th and K streets Monday afternoon, munching on steak sandwiches with his sons, Victor and George. Standing in line at 7 feet 7 inches tall, he definitely was hard to miss.
Muresan, who starred in the 1998 movie “My Giant” with actor Billy Crystal, told Yeas and Nays he has been working on a film directed by Kevin Undergaro called “Serial Buddies.” The film is projected for release in early 2010 and will feature Christopher Lloyd, Maria Menounos and Kathie Lee Gifford.
Though he’s a man of few words, Muresan did say he plays “the bad guy” in the upcoming film. His son Victor, an aspiring actor, also appears in the film. Unlike his dad, Victor said he plays “a good guy.”
When we asked the retired baller about his dribbling habits, he said, “I don’t play that much; I play less than I used to play.” Muresan isn’t pushing basketball on his sons, either. “Most of the time, now they play lacrosse,” he said.
Muresan, a native of Romania, lives in Potomac with his family. He is tied with the Sudanese player Manute Bol — also a Bullet — as the tallest man ever to play in the NBA.
