A man has been charged in the death of a 15-year-old girl who was run over by a school bus Monday in a hit-and-run incident.
Antonina Zatulovska was crossing the street near her Brooklyn school when a school bus turned the corner and struck the teenager, according to footage of the incident released online.
Zatulovska was knocked to the street, but the bus continued driving, and its rear right wheel can be seen rolling over and crushing her.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after 8 a.m., and Zatulovska was declared dead upon arrival, according to a report.
The bus drove away, but police used surveillance footage to identify the bus and its driver, 55-year-old Aleksandr Patlakh, authorities said.
“I don’t know if he didn’t realize that he hit somebody or something. But he kept on going and he didn’t stop,” a witness said. “This poor little girl, she was just a small, small human. And the bus driver probably just didn’t realize that he unfortunately took someone’s life with the way he was driving.”
Patlakh said he did not realize he had struck anyone, and he surrendered to police for questioning when he learned that someone had been killed, according to the report.
He was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian and failure to exercise due care.
Patlakh was issued a desk appearance ticket and released, the report noted.
Boris Zatulovksa, the deceased teenager’s father, said his family is “suffering” and described his daughter as “a beautiful girl, innocent, crossing a crosswalk.”

“People can’t drive like this in the city, a school area, making this turn,” he said. “He killed my daughter in one second. Everybody knows you have to slow [down] by a school. You can’t make people have to jump out of the way.”
