Sanders extends, boasts 22-point lead in N.H.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has nearly doubled his lead over Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire, according to a Fox News poll released Monday.

The poll says Sanders has a 22-point lead among Democratic primary voters, and is now up 56-34. Sanders’ total level of support was up 6 points from the Jan. 7 Fox poll, while Clinton dropped 3 points in the same time period.

Only 3 percent of respondents polled Jan. 18-21 would vote for former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley.

Those pledging support to Sanders and Clinton said they do not plan to change their minds in the next two weeks before the Granite State’s primary. Seventy-eight percent of Sanders’ supporters were certain they would vote for him Feb. 9 and 76 percent of Clinton’s backers felt the same way.

Clinton’s supporters were more accepting of a Sanders nomination than his were of Clinton winning the election, by 46-37 percent.

In contrast, 43 percent of Clinton supporters would not be satisfied with a Sanders nomination and 37 percent of Sanders’ vote felt the same way about Clinton, but would still support either selection in the general election.
