One of four people shot in Thursday?s quadruple shooting in East Baltimore was a witness in a double-murder trial scheduled for the next day, prosecutors said.
The Baltimore Police Department is investigating whether the shooting was an act of witness intimidation.
Police have obtained an arrest warrant for Johnnie Toomer, 21, of the 2900 block of East Monument Street, Baltimore, on four charges of attempted murder in Thursday?s shooting.
Allen Little, 28, of Baltimore, was charged with killing two people in 2005 on the 1700 block of North Bradford Street ? the same block where the latest shooting occurred.
Little was scheduled to stand trial on first-degree murder charges Friday, but prosecutors had to postpone the case because of media attention surrounding Thursday?s shooting.
“I can confirm that one of the victims in yesterday?s shooting was a potential witness in the Little trial,” Ashley Bair, a spokeswoman for the Baltimore City State?s Attorney?s Office, said Friday.
Little is accused of shooting William Kirkpatrick, 16, and Stanley Dorsey, 31, on Oct. 18, 2005.
On Thursday, three youths and one man were shot in the same block ? none with life-threatening injuries.
Officers were called to the block at 12:45 p.m. for a report of multiple shootings and found a 11-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl and a 21-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
