7 dead after man slashes schoolchildren in China to get revenge for school bullying

Seven children were killed and a dozen injured after a knife-wielding man stabbed children on the street Friday evening in the Mizhi County of China’s Shaanxi Province, according to multiple reports.

The Daily Mail reported that authorities believed it was an act of “revenge” because the suspect had been bullied at the school, and was “still angry.”

Local media reports said the group of children had been walking home from school when a man jumped out in front of the group and attacked them in the evening. A witness said the incident took place near Mizhi County’s Number Three Middle School.

Another person said more girls were hurt than boys because the boys “ran more quickly,” the Daily Mail reported.

Police apprehended the suspect, and the wounded were being treated at local hospitals.

The incident is one of the most deadly attacks in China in recent years. In January 2017, another knife-wielding man stabbed 11 children at a kindergarten in China’s Guangxi Zhuang region.

Later in the year, a man used a kitchen knife to stab two people and injured nine others at a grocery story in Shenzhen, China.
