Australian reporter’s anti-Trump report from G-20 conference goes viral

Chris Uhlmann, a reporter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, delivered an on-camera rant against President Trump that has gone viral in the U.S.

Reporting Saturday on the G-20 summit of world leaders in Hamburg, Germany, Uhlmann described Trump as a “lonely, awkward figure” at the meeting and said he is allowing Russia and China to take America’s place as dominant world powers.

“Donald Trump has pressed fast-forward on the decline of the United States as a global leader,” Uhlmann said in the monologue.

In response, Trump’s defenders on the Internet pointed to an op-ed written by Uhlmann in February that blamed an “intellectual virus” spreading in the U.S. — stifling freedom of speech — on “academics fleeing Adolf Hitler’s Germany.”

Trump’s defenders suggested that the “academics fleeing Adolf Hitler’s Germany” was a reference to Jewish people.
