Trump rants against media for coverage of Russia investigations

President Trump ranted against the media Friday morning, alleging that it has failed to cover that the Senate Intelligence Committee has not found any collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and that it has pulled off a “hoax” meant to diminish him.

“The mainstream media has refused to cover the fact that the head of the VERY important Senate Intelligence Committee, after two years of intensive study and access to Intelligence that only they could get, just stated that they have found NO COLLUSION between ‘Trump’ & Russia,” Trump posted to Twitter Friday morning.

On Thursday, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr, R-N.C., said that the panel had not discovered any proof that there was any collusion between the Kremlin and 2016 Trump campaign.

“If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” Burr told CBS News.

He also added that he would end the investigation “tomorrow” if he could, and indicated that the two-year investigation was coming to a close.

Trump said that Democrats used the “illegal hoax” investigation as an excuse to explain Hillary Clinton loss in the 2016 presidential election.

“Someday the Fake News Media will turn honest & report that Donald J. Trump was actually a GREAT Candidate!” Trump tweeted.

He also cited a report that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., was spending time with Glenn Simpson, co-founder of Fusion GPS, the firm that penned the Steele dossier, even though Simpson had to testify before Schiff’s panel.

“Now we find out that Adam Schiff was spending time together in Aspen with Glenn Simpson of GPS Fusion, who wrote the fake and discredited Dossier, even though Simpson was testifying before Schiff.”

Schiff announced Wednesday that the House committee would continue its investigation into Russian interference and possible Trump campaign collusion with Moscow.
