Clinton denounces rally violence, says Trump ‘bad example’

Hillary Clinton condemned violence perpetrated by Donald Trump supporters and anti-Trump protestors alike, stating that “the police have a hard enough time” keeping rallies safe.

“I condemn all violence in our political arena … The police have a hard enough time to make sure that we’re able to gather and talk about the issues facing our country. And Trump has lowered the bar,” Clinton said during a CNN interview on Friday afternoon, while talking of the anti-Trump violence at a rally in California on Thursday night.

She added, “And now is it a surprise that people who don’t like him are stepping over that low bar? I don’t think it is. He needs to condemn all violence by everyone. I have and I will continue to do so.”

Clinton went on to explain that the use of physical violence isn’t helping either party, and regardless of political implications, the violence needs to “end.” On the campaign trail, Clinton often condemns Trump supporters who behave violently and calls on Trump to do the same.

“This has to end. [Trump] set a very bad example,” the Democratic candidate continued. “He created an environment in which it seemed to be acceptable for someone running for president to be inciting violence, to be encouraging his supporters. Now we’re seeing people who were against him responding kindly. It should all stop. It is not acceptable.”
