Aaron makes Bonds record breaking night perfect

At 8:54pm local time 11:54pm on theeast coast Barry Bonds hit a fly ball off Nationals Mike Bascsik that fell to earth in the right field stands of AT&T Park . It was the 756th homerun of his career and the one that put him ahead of Hank Aaron on the all time homerun list.

The call of the homerun was handled with great color and detail by Jon Miller of Giants radio KNBR. As only Miller and a few others can do he painted a word picture that made you feel that you were at the park.

The big surprise of the night came when on the scoreboard monitor the image of Hank Aaron larger than life congratulated Bonds on breaking his record.

It was a well kept secret and one that stunned the crowd and visibly moved Bonds.

Fox Sports Net, MASN and ESPN2 all had wonderful pictures on the evening and each in their own way did a fine job of paying respect to Bonds record breaking accomplishment.

FSN Bay Area had the first post game interview with Bonds on the field seconds after the game came to an end.

Kudos to all the broadcasters at AT&T Park for doing a great job on calling the homerun and putting things into perspective.

Bob Carpenter and Don Sutton of MASN were spot on as were Charlie Slowes and Dave Jageler of WTWP radio. The Nationals broadcast crew did a fine job of not detracting from the night and embracing the record. Something the
San Diego
broadcasters who called 755 could learn from.

Now the crush is over and the circus has left town and it is time to play baseball again.
