One Humane Society in Florida has rescued more than 40 beagles from a breeding facility in Virginia and placed them up for adoption.
This is the first group among the 4,000 dogs removed from the Envigo breeding and research facility in Cumberland, Virginia. The dogs arrived Friday morning.
Broward County Humane Society will start taking adoption appointments for the dogs from Aug. 8-12. It is one of many shelters across the country that will be placing the dogs up for adoption. Rescue organization Homeward Trails partnered with the Humane Society of the United States to rescue the beagles and place them in shelters.

Various violations forced the Envigo facility to close its doors.
Anyone 21 years or older is eligible to adopt. Potential owners must have an ID and pay fees that include vaccinations, wellness checks, spaying, or flea/tick treatment, which vary depending on the dog’s age.
