The offices of the comedy group responsible for the Netflix short The First Temptation of Christ were attacked with Molotov cocktails on Christmas Eve.
Porta dos Fundos, the Brazilian comedy group based out of Rio de Janeiro, announced via Twitter that their offices had been targeted with the explosives. The group explained that the flames were put out by a security guard and that no one was seriously injured. They also explained that the attack “endangered several innocent lives” outside the building as well because of the flames and glass that fell onto the street below.
The group wrote, “Porta dos Fundos condemns any act of violence and has made the security camera images available to the authorities and expects those responsible for the attacks to be found and punished. However, our priority right now is the safety of the entire team that works with us. Once we have more details, we will speak again.”
They added, “But for now, we anticipate that we will move on, more united, stronger, more inspired, and confident that the country will survive this storm of hatred and love will prevail along with freedom of speech.”
