Michael Avenatti, the fervent anti-President Trump lawyer facing a 36-count federal indictment, is backing former Vice President Joe Biden in the 2020 Democratic primaries.
“I am extremely happy that @JoeBiden has decided to enter the race,” Avenatti tweeted. “He offers Dems the very best chance in 2020, especially in key states. He has the fight, intelligence and fortitude to beat Trump and begin to make America, America again. He has my enthusiastic support.”

Avenatti, who floated himself as a potential 2020 candidate last year, is now facing several investigations from federal prosecutors for allegedly committing multiple financial crimes, including: embezzling over $2.5 million from an NBA player, embezzling $4 million from a paraplegic client, and for attempting to blackmail sport company Nike.

“I am highly confident that when the process plays out, justice will be done,” he told reporters after a court appearance.
Avenatti soared in popularity in anti-Trump circles for his lawsuit with former client porn star Stormy Daniels against Trump.
