Sessions claims he doesn’t miss serving in the Senate

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions doesn’t miss serving in the Senate.

“No. I mean, no,” Sessions said Wednesday when pressed if he misses the job he did for 20 years, according to Politico.

“I could go back and spend time in the woods,” he said. “I’ve got 10 grandchildren, oldest is 11.”

Sessions, who resigned from his post at the Justice Department per the request of President Trump last month, didn’t signal whether he would run in 2020 to try to win back his old Senate seat in Alabama despite speculation that he would do so.

“I’ve been clearing my brain. I think that’s a fair statement,” Sessions said. “I’ll go to Alabama, do some things and then that will clarify things a little more before I worry about making a statement.”

Sessions’ Senate seat was temporarily filled by Luther Strange, but Strange failed to win the Republican primary. Ultimately, Democratic Sen. Doug Jones won Sessions’ seat, after going head to head in a December 2017 special election against Republican Roy Moore, who faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
