Baby bottles recalled after high levels of lead are found

Baby-products company NUK has issued a recall on its glass baby bottles due to their levels of lead.

The recall includes NUK’s First Choice 8-ounce glass bottles with white and gray stars meant for 0 to 6-month-old babies. All affected bottles were sold on Amazon.

“For over 70 years, the NUK® brand has been a trusted name in developing products that support the safe and healthy development of children,” NUK’s press release read. “The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada are voluntarily recalling NUK-branded glass feeding bottles that were intended for sale in the UK and were unintentionally sold to consumers in the U.S. and Canada exclusively through Amazon.com third-party seller, Astir Care.”

Fewer than 100 customers were affected by the recall, according to the company.

The bottle’s lead levels exceeded the U.S. federal lead content ban, and such levels could cause adverse health effects. NUK is soliciting all bottles to be returned to eliminate future exposure.

Customers can request a return mailer to send the bottles back to the company and receive a refund.
