Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has filed to run for president in 2024.
Christie filled out the paperwork with the Federal Election Commission just hours ahead of his campaign launch in New Hampshire Tuesday.
ESG EMERGES AS SLEEPER ISSUE IN THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN
The former governor is entering the 2024 race as an aggressive critic of former President Donald Trump, but he is polling at only 1% in several polls.
Christie will launch his 2024 campaign at a town hall in New Hampshire Tuesday evening. His allies launched the Tell It Like It Is super PAC last week.
The former governor has flirted with a presidential run over the last several months and previously announced he would only run if he had something to say, had an intact personal life, and had a viable path to victory. It remains to be seen what path Christie has to the nomination, given that Trump still dominates the GOP and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is the second-favorite among primary voters.
Meanwhile, Christie’s attacks against Trump have mainly served to sour Republican voters on the former governor.
Trump allies maintain they aren’t phased by Christie’s campaign, instead using the moment to bash DeSantis, the former president’s top rival.

“Ron DeSantis’s campaign is spiraling, and President Trump’s dominance over the Republican primary field has opened a mad rush to seize the mantle for runner-up. Ron DeSantis is not ready for this moment, and Chris Christie will waste no time eating DeSantis’s lunch,” said Karoline Leavitt, spokeswoman for the MAGA Inc. super PAC.
Christie ran for president in 2016 but dropped out after finishing in a disappointing sixth place during the New Hampshire primary. This time around, he’s placing his bets on winning in New Hampshire, a crucial early nominating state.
