Michelle Nunn Won’t Say If She Would Have Voted for Obamacare

Senate candidate Michelle Nunn of Georgia refused to say how she would have voted on the Affordable Care Act. While the Democrat was campaigning in Macon Monday, a local TV news reporter asked Nunn about her position on the law.

“Would you have voted for the president’s health-care law, if you had the opportunity,” the reporter asked.

“So, I’ve said that I wasn’t there, obviously, six years ago,” Nunn said. “What I would do is talk about where we should go.”

The reporter tried the question again, imploring Nunn to consider it “knowing what you know now.”

“I think we are all looking forward,” Nunn responded. “What I’ve said over and over again is that we need to look forward, and I don’t think we want to rehash battles from the last six years into the next two years.” Nunn added that she wants the country to be “pragmatic” on health care. Nunn remains a few points behind her Republican opponent, David Perdue. Perdue has led in eight of the last nine polls after a few earlier in the fall showed Nunn ahead. If neither candidate earns more than 50 percent on Election Day, the race will proceed to a January runoff between the top two vote-getters.

The seat is currently held by retiring Republican Saxby Chambliss.
