Corey Lewandowski: Intelligence community behind leaks

Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski on Wednesday said the intelligence community is behind many of the anonymous leaks of information about President Trump and his administration.

“We’ve seen time and time and time again now that the president is having private conversations that very few people have access to and in many cases are classified,” Lewandowski told Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “That is being done from the intelligence community solely to discredit this president. They don’t want to see him be successful. They are doing so not just to the detriment of the president but at the detriment of the entire country.”

Lewandowski didn’t offer any evidence to substantiate his claim, but at least one White House staffer is reportedly being investigated for leaking nonpublic information to the media.

Trump has had a rocky relationship with the intelligence community as a result of its investigation into Russia’s alleged interference in the election and probe of Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Lewandowski added that he was not in talks with the Trump administration about taking a job at the White House. Politico had reported he was in line to accept a crisis management role, which he denied.
