President Trump complains to associates about the FBI raids on his personal attorney Michael Cohen as often as 20 times a day and thinks he requires better “TV lawyers” to combat special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation, according to a report Sunday.
Associates subjected to Trump’s gripes about FBI raids of Cohen’s office, home, and hotel room on April 9, which reportedly targeted communications between Cohen and his presidential client, listen in silence because Trump is usually implacable, per the Washington Post.
The raids were conducted as part of a probe into Cohen’s business dealings spearheaded by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York after it received a referral from Mueller.
This Thursday marks the one-year anniversary of Mueller’s appointment by the Department of Justice to investigate Russian meddling in the 2016 elections and possible acts that constitute an obstruction of justice.
Rudy Giuliani, a high-profile addition to Trump’s personal legal counsel, was brought on board to steer Mueller’s probe to a conclusion.
But since starting, Giuliani has ginned up more media attention regarding the investigation by granting a series of interviews with reporters.
Giuliani defended his tactic of advocating for the president through the press to the Post, shrugging off speculation Trump was becoming dissatisfied with his work.
“We’re on the same wavelength. We’ve gone from defense to offense,” Giuliani told the Post.
