The halls of the House are coming to resemble high school.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Georgia Republican, tussled separately with four Democratic House members this week. Three of the confrontations came after the first-term lawmaker chased down Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Thursday and publicly berated the New York Democrat over an unwillingness to debate environmental policy on the House floor.
Ocasio-Cortez told reporters on Friday that she thinks Greene is “unwell” and in need of help.

“Her kind of fixation has lasted for several years now,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “At this point, I think the depth of that un-wellness has raised concerns for other members as well, and I think that this is an assessment that needs to be made by the proper professionals.”
Greene has claimed she’s the victim of incivility on the part of House Democrats. In one instance, according to Greene, Rep. Eric Swalwell, a California Democrat, screamed at her staffer on her way to the House floor.
“My staffer nicely says to him, ‘Congressman, you don’t have to wear your mask anymore.’ Because of what Biden said yesterday,” Greene told reporters. “He chases my staffer inside. Everybody saw it, and [Swalwell] gets in his face, curses at him saying, ‘You don’t tell me what to do.’”
Greene also says Rep. Cori Bush, a Missouri Democrat, yelled at her.
“[She] attacked me in the tunnel, screaming at me —screaming. I never said a word. She goes by screaming at me to put on a mask,” Greene recalled. “That’s a verbal assault.”
Greene accused Illinois Democratic Rep. Marie Newman of a “physical assault” on Thursday. The congresswomen have offices across the hall from each other in the Longworth Building.
Newman “shoulder-checked me right there inside in front of the Capitol Police yesterday,” Greene said. “She hit my shoulder. I said, ‘Excuse me.’ She said nothing back and kept going out the door. That’s a physical assault.”
Newman’s communications director, Pat Mullane, said that’s simply not true.
“Like nearly every comment, claim, and conspiracy that comes out of Marjorie Taylor Greene’s mouth, this is laughably false and frankly absurd,” Mullane said.
Since House Democrats stripped Greene of her committee assignments for threatening social media comments prior to her time in Congress, the Georgia Republican has been a thorn in the side of Democratic members.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday called Greene’s behavior “a verbal assault and real abuse of our colleague, AOC.” The California Democrat urged the House Ethics Committee to open an investigation into Greene’s actions.
Greene responded that Pelosi should be the one the committee investigates.

“I think the Ethics Committee should look into Nancy Pelosi and why she didn’t have National Guard here on Jan. 6, when she knew ahead of time. How about that?” she said.
