Scott Walker’s Democratic opponent tries to manage her campaign’s plagiarism scandal

Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke is still dealing with the fallout from reports that her so-called jobs plan was copied almost word-for-word from plans from candidates in other states.

She first stumbled when asked by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel to define plagiarism, defining it as “probably, using words, exact words, from a source that doesn’t, that isn’t cited and isn’t attributable.”

Later, on Wednesday, she was unable to say in an interview with MSNBC which of the ideas laid out in her plagiarized jobs report are original to her.

“I’d say all of them I support,” Burke said.

“But are they original to you, your ideas?” the MSNBC reported asked.

“Yeah, they’re ones I believe are going to work here,” the gubernatorial candidate answered.

The Democratic businesswoman and Harvard Business School graduate had to fire consultant Eric Schnurer earlier this month after BuzzFeed reported that he had plagiarized almost all of her so-called jobs plan.

Burke maintains that she supports the plan, and that attacks from her incumbent opponent, Gov. Scott Walker, are meant only to serve as a distraction for voters.
