RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno-based GameTech International, Inc. has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Officials from the electronic bingo and video lottery machine supplier said in a statement Monday that the deal will help the company restructure $16 million in debt. GameTech says it will operate as normal and doesn’t expect any service to be disrupted during the process.
The company says it’s been operating under a forbearance agreement with its lenders since May 7, and that expired June 30.
GameTech says that in spite of the Chapter 11 filing, the company is still competitive. GameTech has bingo systems in 38 states, Canada, Japan, and the Philippines.
Its video lottery systems operate in seven states.
GameTech was founded in 1994 and has about 130 employees.
