Sanders easily beats Clinton in Democrats Abroad primary

Bernie Sanders has won the Democrats Abroad presidential primary, defeating Hillary Clinton 69 percent to 31 percent.

With the victory, the Vermont senator wins nine pledged delegates to Clinton’s four.

In total, roughly 34,570 registered Democrats living outside the United States participated, voting in person, by fax, email or mail, the Democratic National Committee announced Monday.

Despite the Sanders victory — he scored 23,779 votes to Clinton’s 10,689 — three of the Democrats Abroad super-delegates have committed to Clinton, while only one did so for Sanders. Four more remain uncommitted.

According to Democrats Abroad, turnout was up 50 percent from 2008.
