Pitbull: ‘Every presidential candidate’ tried to meet with me

Rapper Pitbull still isn’t ready to endorse a presidential candidate, despite their attempts to win him over.

“This whole campaign, man, I’ve had every presidential candidate try to meet up and talk about certain things,” he told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday. “I’m all about listening to what’s going on and what the future may hold if they got their hands on the country.

“But you’ve got to sit back and watch them play out because sometimes people become self-destructive. A lot of people don’t really know how to deal with fame and power at the same time. It can be a dangerous concoction.”

The Cuban-American rapper, whose real name is Armando Christian Perez, said he will wait “until the time is right” to publicly endorse Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump.

He went on to compare the 2016 election to a “Hulk Hogan versus Andre the Giant” wrestling match.

“How real do we take this?” he asked.

He said that even though he spoke at a Miami campaign rally during President Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, it was less of an endorsement and more, “Thank you, Barack Obama, for giving me the chance to tell my story on this platform today.”

Pitbull also said he fully recognizes why his presidential opinion might make a difference in this particular election.

“At the end of the day, what they’re looking for is the Latin vote,” he said. “They know how we represent our culture, how we represent our communities, how much weight our actions have.”

Unlike Pitbull, many Latin celebrities such as actresses Eva Longoria and American Ferrera have already endorsed Clinton, citing Trump’s derogatory comments about Mexicans as their main reason to back the former secretary of state.
