Michelle Obama: Put down that boxed mac and cheese and those cookies!

Let’s hope this doesn’t drive sales of Girl Scout Cookies down.

Michelle Obama penned an op-ed for CNN Thursday during which she predictably champions her Let’s Move! campaign to tackle childhood obesity on its five-year anniversary.

Though the first lady boasts about the initiative’s accomplishments in the article — and particularly the effects of her encouraged school nutrition standards — she admits that the country still has a ways to go in terms of improving children’s health.

Obama argues that it’s up to parents to stop buying unhealthy, processed foods from the grocery store and other vendors in order to send a message to the food industry.

“I want to challenge everyone to take a stand for healthy choices with their wallets,” writes Obama. “Because at the end of the day, we know who has the real power: It’s consumers. With every product we buy at the grocery store, we’re casting our vote for the kind of food we want for our families. And if we keep demanding healthier choices, then companies will provide those choices.”

While the first lady obviously does not point out specific brands of foods parents should avoid, we all know she’s thinking about that Kraft boxed macaroni and cheese, which she said last month is filled with “cheese dust” and not real food.

Michelle Obama is probably not too jazzed with Girl Scout Cookies either, and her op-ed certainly comes at a curious and potentially detrimental time for local Washington, D.C., Girl Scouts.

The famed and addicting cookies will be on sale at multiple locations in the D.C. area Saturday.

As many school lunchers said last year, #ThanksMichelleObama!
