Teenage boy with fake gun shot by Baltimore police

A 13-year-old boy in Baltimore was shot Wednesday afternoon by police officers who thought his toy gun was authentic.

The victim’s wounds were not life-threatening. Police told CBS Baltimore the boy ran when he was asked about the gun, which prompted police to go after him.

Law enforcement officials have not released additional details about the shooting.

The incident comes almost exactly a year after riots broke out in the Rose City due to the death of Freddie Gray while in police custody. Six law enforcement officers are preparing to go on trial for their roles in that incident.
