A Minnesota restaurant owner lost her food license after breaking coronavirus restrictions but says she won’t back down and will teach her daughters about the Constitution in the process.
“It’s about the Constitution and teaching my daughters … that America is great,” owner of Havens Garden and mother of two, Larvita McFarquhar, told Fox & Friends on Sunday. “If we don’t protect America, it’s going to be taken away from us.”
“It doesn’t matter who’s the leader, who’s in power,” she said. “Our Constitution is for the people. … Everywhere we go, that’s what we have, the Constitution, to protect us. And if we don’t take a stand now, who will?”
McFarquhar’s bar and restaurant, which is located in Lynd in the southwestern part of the state, faces possible fines, but McFarquhar said she won’t “blindly” follow government orders. Minnesota currently prohibits restaurants from serving patrons in restaurants.
“We’re going to be open every day and my girls are here to support me,” she said. “If the governor comes after us, we’re going to keep fighting… We’re going to keep doing what we’re supposed to be doing as Americans and that is fighting for our rights.”
Other restaurants across the country are fighting back against state restrictions, including Mac’s Public House on Staten Island, which lost its liquor license, faces fines, and whose co-owner was arrested last week after disobeying coronavirus orders.
