Get in Shape!
Clyde Drexler’s wit is as sharp as his baseline jumper. The NBA Hall of Famer was on Capitol Hill today with Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes and welterweight boxing champion Andre Berto to lobby for legislation that would establish federal fitness guidelines.

“We’re all professional athletes,” said Drexler, as he took the podium.
“Tom and I aren’t,” interrupted Sen. Sam Brownback, as he strode in late. He was referring to Sen. Tom Harkin, with whom he cosponsorsthe bill in the Senate.
“Have you ever been confused for a professional athlete?” Drexler came back, without missing a beat.
When asked about steroids in professional sports, Drexler said, “In the sport of basketball, I don’t think it’s prevalent at all.” With respect to policing other sports, he added, “If it wasn’t against the rules, then why are we talking about it today?”
Dawes told Yeas & Nays that she does yoga and pilates and plays golf to stay in shape these days. “I’m not walking stairs in heels,” she joked. “That’s why I do squats in the elevator.”
Meanwhile, Drexler confessed to being an obsessive golfer. Everyday? “Everyday that ends in ‘y,’” he said.
