Double jeopardy: Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik to host Jeopardy! permanently

Jeopardy! announced it would continue with its current hosting assignments as Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings share the duties on a permanent basis.

Many were in the running to become the fan-favorite game show’s host after Alex Trebek died in 2020 from pancreatic cancer.

Following the abrupt exit of Mike Richards, who had been named as Trebek’s replacement, both Bialik and Jennings are in the process of finalizing deals to share the role of the full-time host of Jeopardy!, according to Deadline.

“With all of our plans for Jeopardy! — which is more Jeopardy!, not less, more versions — we’re going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience,” Jeopardy! Executive Producer Michael Davies told Variety last month, “to represent the entire country, in order to take this franchise forward.”

Bialik, an actress known for her roles on The Big Bang Theory and Blossom who also holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience, was originally named as the host of Jeopardy!’s prime-time and spinoff series, including Jeopardy! National College Championship.

Jennings, a former Jeopardy! champion, was the show’s first guest host following Trebek’s death before joining the hosting rotation in November 2021.
