Two men attempted to carjack a car early Saturday morning in D.C. but failed because they couldn’t handle a stick shift.
Two men with a handgun forced a man and a woman to get out of their car and climb into the trunk around 6 a.m. in Columbia Heights, according to police.
But then the suspects had a problem: the car had a manual transmission, and neither of the men knew how to drive using a stick shift.
So they forced the man out of the trunk and made him drive to the 4300 block of Nanny Burroughs Avenue NE. There the driver jumped out of the car, leaving the criminals to fend for themselves.
The two carjackers attempted to drive the vehicle, but could not, abandoning the vehicle a few blocks away just over the Prince George’s County border.
The woman was found in the trunk unhurt. The male victim was also uninjured.
Police are still on the lookout for the two men.
