A video filmed in a Brooklyn neighborhood shows people cheering police officers on as they walked by in riot gear Monday night during another night of violent protests in New York City.
“Brooklyn: Crown Heights residents cheer and salute the #NYPD as hundreds of officers in riot gear pass by on Eastern Parkway,” the NYC Scanner account tweeted Monday evening.

The protests began after George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee into his neck for nearly nine minutes. In some cases, property damage, looting, and even shootings have taken place during demonstrations calling attention to racial inequality and police brutality.
Officers in New York City have been repeatedly attacked since the protests began, including an officer getting struck by a hit-and-run driver, one who was beaten while he was on the ground in the Bronx, and one who was “nearly killed” when a brick was thrown at him.
