Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie doesn’t think too highly of President Trump’s confidantes in the White House.
Axios reports the 2016 GOP primary-rival-turned-supporter says in a new book Trump shouldn’t trust some of those people closest to him. Christie, who served for a time as Trump’s transition chairman in 2016 before being dumped from the position, calls the Trump insiders a “revolving door of deeply flawed individuals — amateurs, grifters, weaklings, convicted, and unconvicted felons — who were hustled into jobs they were never suited for, sometimes seemingly without so much as a background check via Google or Wikipedia.”
Christie’s memoir, “Let Me Finish,” will publish on Jan. 29.
“[Trump] trusts people he shouldn’t,” Christie writes, “including some of the people who are closest to him.”
Christie adds selfish people who were “toxic forces” made Trump’s presidency less effective than it otherwise would have been.
Christie himself has floated in and out of Trump’s inner circle. The pair met in December to discuss Christie becoming Trump’s new new chief of staff to replace as John Kelly but that didn’t pan out.
