White House press secretary Sarah Sanders is briefing the press from the White House on Thursday.
Reporters were given a five-minute warning that a briefing was taking place around 4 p.m. EST. President Trump made an appearance at the start of the event.
The briefing comes hours after the swearing-in of the 116th Congress and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., reclaiming the speaker’s gavel in a vote.
White House press briefings have become increasingly uncommon over the course of the Trump administration’s tenure. The last press briefing was held in mid-December.
